  • In this paper a statistical method of detecting unusual seismic activities has been developed. The method proposed is then applied to weak earthquake activities before and after some strong and moderate earthquakes (Ms>5.0) in Western China. Certain fundamental characteristics of the unusual seismic activities have been investigated and discussed.
