Developing progress of China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite project

  • China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) project was approved in 2013. The satellite will be launched by the end of August, 2017, and its lifetime is five years. It is the first space-based platform of three-dimensional earthquake monitoring system in China. This paper first briefly introduces the design and task of six systems in the CSES project, then gives recent progresses of satellite system and data application system. At present, satellite platform and payloads prototype developing work have been completed. At the end of June 2016, flight model phase is to start. The development of application system foundation platform will be carried out as planned, and it will begin half-year trial before satellite launch so as to ensure the effective application of CSES data.
